Editorial and Corrections Policy
How we check facts, how we use AI tools, and how we fix what we get wrong.
Facts and Sources
- Every number traces to a source you can open. Every post ends with a list of links.
- We go to the first source when we can. That means the federal file, the filing or the rule itself.
- We never make up people, quotes, reviews, stats or photos.
- When two sources disagree, we say so or we leave the number out.
AI Tools
We draft stories and guides with AI tools, and we check each number against its source. We do not use AI headshots or made up bylines.
Safety Guides
Guides on brakes, jacking and lifting, fuel, air bags, high voltage, steering and suspension can hurt someone if they are wrong. A person must sign off on each of these guides before it goes up. Every guide tells you when to stop and call a mechanic.
Named Businesses
We check every named business in a story against the record. We do not name a shop on a claim we cannot show from a public record.
Dates
A post shows the day it first went up. That date never changes. If we change a post in a real way, we add an updated date next to it.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it and add a note at the end of the post that says what changed and when. To report a mistake, use the contact page and tell us the page and the fact. Corrections go to our editors.
