SAN JACINTO, Calif., Nov. 5, 2026. Supercanic, a mobile auto repair company based in San Jacinto, is sharing four repairs from late October, with the final bill on each one.
Disclosure. This is a press release from Supercanic LLC, the company that publishes Auto Mechanic USA. It is not an independent report. Supercanic also makes Shop Desk and MechanicRank.
Four Jobs From Late October
The largest bill was $816.03. The smallest was $452.25. Each figure comes from the job story Supercanic published for that car.
| Car | What Was Wrong | What Was Done | Final Bill |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2007 Toyota Sequoia | Belt tensioner stuck in the down position | Belt and tensioner replaced | $478.63 |
| BMW 128i Convertible | Failed starter | Remanufactured starter fitted at the car | $705.30 |
| 2020 Alfa Romeo Stelvio | Stretched hood release cable, broken release lever | Cable replaced, hood working again | $452.25 |
| 2006 Honda Civic | Front brake caliper needing replacement | Both front calipers and new front pads | $816.03 |

The Job That Grew
The Sequoia owner, in Sun City, asked for a new serpentine belt. The tech found the tensioner stuck. A new belt on that tensioner would not have fixed the car.
The repair was now bigger than the figure the owner had approved. The tech stopped and the job went back for a new quote. Both parts were then replaced in two hours of labor.
The Stelvio started as an oil change. The hood would not open, so the tech went to the house and fixed the release first. The BMW took three hours at $150 an hour, because the starter on that inline six sits low on the engine under the intake side.
In the Words of Customers
These lines come from Google reviews on the Supercanic San Jacinto profile. They are printed as the reviewers wrote them. They are not about the four jobs above.
"I recommend supercanic reasonable rates and quality service."
"Awsome people there mechanics are wonderful."

In the Words of Another Mechanic
Brian Huey owns Huey's Mobile, a mobile mechanic business in Monroe, NC. He was speaking about the whole trade on the Smoke and Receipts podcast, not about Supercanic.
"A good mechanic will show you what's wrong, explain it in plain words, and won't get annoyed when you ask questions or stand over him. If somebody's pressuring you to decide right now or they can't explain why you need something, walk away."
Huey is not an unconnected party. He is the lead writer on this site, he runs his business on Shop Desk and Supercanic has paid him for inspection work. The podcast comes from Clickflame, which shares a founder with Supercanic.
